He started out with the vision of being an MLM success, being an entrepreneur, building a residual income. My goal, in this article, is to share with you a bit of Mike Dillard’s story that you can apply to your business to get immediate results.

Mike Dillard’s Story

Mike Dillard started in the network marketing industry right out of college. He admits that at that time, he was extremely shy, had very little self-confidence and was dead broke. He had to make money to pay the bills, and at the same time, he wanted to overcome his fear of talking to people.

He took a job as a medical recruiter calling 200+ doctors’ offices, on a daily basis, to overcome the fears of talking to prospects on the phone. After a few days, he was able to pick up the phone with confidence.

Next, he took a job waiting tables at PF Changs. This allowed him to free his daytime hours to focus on network marketing. Mike tried all the traditional business building methods, went to home presentation, passed out flyers, everything and anything without much success.

Mike started reading books, listening to tapes and cds. He learned about target marketing, going after the people who were already buying what you’re selling. He learned about leadership. He started calling 100 to 200 people off genealogy lists on a daily basis, still with little success.

He thought about how life would be so much better if he could get people to contact him. So, he tried to figure out what he needed to do to get at least 5 to 10 people to contact him on a daily basis. He found a mentor. He learned about attraction marketing. Mike learned that the only reason people will join you is because they see you as a leader that can offer value to them. He learned to posture himself as a leader, rather than chasing after people.

After struggling for over 6 years, going into debt, and even pawning his possessions just to eat, he finally figured things out, and discovered the art of magnetic sponsoring. At first he made his findings available to people in his company. Then he started teaching people, in any company how to attract endless new prospects and customers to them.

Today, Mike has built a multiple 7-figure business, leveraging the Internet, in the network marketing industry. He teaches people that being a leader is a decision you make for yourself, right now. It’s a state of mind, a role that you put yourself into. It’s the ability to tell someone else what to do next.

Mike Dillard teaches people to separate themselves from the rest by being honest, having integrity, and giving value. Some key things that he suggests people focus on are:

  1. Learn online MLM lead generation and focus on one method until you are producing 30 to 50 leads a day.
  2. Learn to convert those leads into sales or prospects for your opportunity.
  3. Learn to talk to people on the phone and get them to join your team.
  4. Focus on one outcome or project at a time and do 3 to 5 things every day to achieve it.
